Impressionist Sketches

Decided to try my hand at a new style of drawing... Impressionist. I must say I wasn't getting the 'don't get too detailed' memo. But for a first timer, I think they turned out okay.

Blessed Miguel Pro

It's been a while, but I was asked to sketch a quick drawing of Blessed Miguel Pro. Hope you like it!

Infant in the Lord's Arms

I am pleased to have finished this drawing for a dear friend of mine. It depicts an infant, sleeping in the arms of the Lord. Much like the lyrics to "On Eagle's Wings," the Lord will always hold us 'in the palm of His hands.' The Lord says "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."(Matthew 11:28)

Fr. Jorge Mario Bergoglio

This is a drawing of our new pope, Francis I, formerly known as Fr. Jorge Mario Bergoglio. I did the drawing this afternoon, and will hopefully be doing more throughout the week! I always like to tweak the picture a little. It makes it more unique :) In this drawing, I lightened his eyes. (They seemed too dark to see in the photo)

Praying Hands

 

This is my newest drawing. It is my Grandfather's favorite symbol, the praying hands.

St. Padre Pio

 This is a sketch I just finished of St. Padre Pio. I thought I would share how I drew it. First I graph both the picture, and the paper that I will be drawing on. Then, I flip both the picture and the paper upside down. This helps me to draw exactly what I see, not what I "think" I see. After I have made my outline of where I want everything to go, I flip it back over to start shading. One of the hardest things I have learned is that I can't just start with a dark color. Instead, I have to progressively go darker and darker until I am happy with my picture. The beauty about this is that I can tweak it as I am shading.

Msgr. John Williams

This drawing is of my pastor, my shepherd, my sponsor, my friend, Msgr. John Williams. His humbleness and wisdom in all aspects of his life are clearly seen by all who meet him. To the left of him, I added a picture of one of his favorite statues, the Infant of Prague. This is my favorite drawing, and probably the best of my drawings.

St. Therese of Liseiux

This was my first drawing. I did this while at an Ignited By Truth Conference. I loved her eyes, and her smile.
